Kim Kardashian Visits Sacramento to Discuss Criminal Justice Reform at California State Capitol

Kim Kardashian is back working towards criminal justice reform. On Monday, the reality star spent her time amongst leaders at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Kim didn’t say much about her visit, but did share a picture of herself sitting in the Senate Chamber to Twitter.

Kim’s visit coincided with the launch for the Free the Vote Act, which would restore voting rights to formerly incarcerated people on parole. California is one of the several states that is considering expanding voting rights for felons released from custody.

"Ms. Kardashian West's visit to the state Capitol was to advocate for criminal justice reforms, and issues related to women who are incarcerated," Assemblyman Kevin McCarty said in a statement. "She later learned about ACA 6/Free The Vote and endorsed the campaign and was invited to help with future lobbying efforts."

Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo also thanked Kim on Twitter for her work and "willingness to use her celebrity" to fix our justice system.

Earlier this month, Kim celebrated the release of Cyntoia Brown from prison. Tennessee Governor Haslam granted the 31-year-old woman clemency after being behind bars for 15 years. Kim advocated for Brown on social media, initially writing, "We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this.”

Last year, Kim also fought for Alice Johnson, whose life sentence was shortened after the 39-year-old star met with President Donald Trump on granting Johnson clemency.
