Khloé Kardashian Seemingly Defends Scott Disick After 'Racist' Instagram Controversy

Social media users were outraged earlier this week over a photo featuring a member of the Kardashian/Jenner family, but it wasn't one of the usual suspects.

Scott Disick shared a photo on Instagram of he and daughter Penelope enjoying dinner at a restaurant on Thursday.

The pic showed Penelope pulling her eyelids back, which many individuals believed was a racially insensitive gesture mocking Asian people. To make matters worse, the photo was reportedly taken at a Japanese eatery.

One user commented on the photo, "as an Asian-American I'm offended... setting an example is what adults should do." Another user took issue with Disick not being aware enough that posting the photo would be offensive. "The parent should reprimand the child about making faces like that instead of taking a pic of it," one wrote.

However, others believe the outrage was overzealous.

The controversy caught the attention of Penelope's aunt, Khloé Kardashian, who indirectly provided her take on whether or not the six-year-old's gesture was racist.

Khloé liked a tweet from Tracy Nguyen Romulus, an L.A.-based publicist who's friends with the family, who said people are "overanalyzing" the pic.

"Nothing racist about this, as an Asian person I didn't think twice," Romulus, who's Indonesian, said. "On a personal level, P is the sweetest soul. Her parents have done an amazing job of raising a young girl who is compassionate and kind."

For Khloé's part, she may want to be a bit careful providing her viewpoint on sensitive issues anytime soon, however, considering her recent controversies such as whitening accusations and the odd biracial baby doll tweets.
