Kevin Smith Reveals Why He's No Longer on Speaking Terms With Ben Affleck
By Jennifer Fabiano

Actor Ben Affleck and filmmaker Kevin Smith used to work together on projects all the time, but the two haven’t spoken in years. In the past, fans didn't know the reason for this falling out, but earlier this week Smith revealed some info on Twitter.
A fan wondered what happened to cause the rift between the two entertainment professionals, and Smith put the blame directly on himself.
If I had to guess? It’s because one of us has a big mouth and told too many candid stories that sometimes weren’t his to tell, and the other one is Ben. https://t.co/kwj82A20SJ

This explanation isn’t hard to imagine, as Smith is notoriously talkative and opinionated. While his tendency to tell juicy stories makes interviewers love him, we can understand why this trait would annoy his coworkers.
In May, Smith explained a situation in which he actually got Affleck into trouble due to his big mouth. During the celebration of Chasing Amy’s 20th anniversary, Smith told a story about Affleck’s reaction to a scene in which he had to kiss a man on the lips.
Smith told The Daily Beast, “When I gave him the script, I said, ‘At one point in the movie you end up kissing Jason Lee.’ And I contextualized it as I set up the story, you’ve got to remember this is 1996. And a young Ben Affleck said, ‘Kissing another man is the hardest acting challenge an actor will ever face,’ or something like that.”
Affleck’s quote, which Smith had repeated, then was taken out of context and the Batman actor ended up receiving a lot of flak for the comment.
“So if you’re Ben Affleck, the only time you probably see my name is in relation to how I make your life harder in some way," Smith said. At least he's owning up to it.
