Kevin Feige Responds to Rumors Killmonger Will Return for 'Black Panther 2'

Black Panther gave us one of the most enigmatic villains ever to come into the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Erik Killmonger. The brutal character, played by Michael B. Jordan, is also easy to sympathize with, which makes for a compelling combination, especially in the superhero world.
With such an amazing character, it's no surprise that fans are clamoring for more of Killmonger in Black Panther 2. There have been rumors speculating that writer and director Ryan Coogler will bring him back to the Ancestral Plane where T'Challa communicates with his ancestors, according to ComicBook.com. Plus, Courtney B. Vance, who is married to Jordan's co-star Angela Bassett, pretty much confirmed we'd be seeing the villain again. So what's the truth?
While our heart rates are accelerating, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has just come out and said this is not the case. "Pure rumor," he told BET.
Feige clarified that nothing is on the table yet because Coogler has only just begun planning the sequel.
"The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation, because Mr. Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie," Feige explained. "It’s early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far, because Mr. Coogler is sitting down and will share it with [producer] Nate Moore and myself in coming weeks."
Although Feige shut down rumors, we're not sure what Coogler has in mind--so we may be seeing more of Killmonger after all. A girl can hope!
