Kendall Jenner Responds to Proactiv Backlash With Emotional Post About Her Acne Struggle

Kendall Jenner has finally responded to the backlash she received after announcing she is partnering with Proactiv.

In a lengthy Instagram caption for a post she put up on Thursday night, Kendall talked about her struggles with acne over the years. The 22-year-old model opened up about the topic even more than she did in her first Proactiv promotion video.

"While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating," Kendall wrote. "It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure."

While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating. It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure. As humans, I don’t think we share our insecurities enough because we live in a time where being “perfect” is the standard. We curate our life online and pick the pretty moments to post. I’d like to show a younger generation that not everything is perfect. Being insecure about my acne gave me thick skin but I wouldn’t ever wish that feeling upon anyone so after trying countless options, I found something that has been helpful in maintaining clear skin for me. It’s been a long journey but I’m excited for where my skin is now. I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a makeup free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity. ❤️

In the video that announced her partnership with Proactiv, Kendall revealed how devastated she was when she read negative comments online about her skin after attending the 2018 Golden Globes.

"It’s been a long journey but I’m excited for where my skin is now," the model continued in the Instagram post. "I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a makeup free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity."

Kendall took a big step and posted a makeup free picture to her Instagram Story on Thursday, also taking part in the 10-Year Challenge that has been popular on social media this week, in which she showed pictures from when she suffered with acne.

Despite the backlash, Kendall's maturity really shows in how she is able to openly talk about this topic.
