James Wan Isn't Signed on for Any More 'Aquaman' Movies

The latest film in the DC Extended Universe is the Jason Momoa-led Aquaman, and though it doesn't hit theaters until Dec. 21, the early reviews are extremely promising. The goal for Warner Bros. here would be to have the film succeed enough that it deems a sequel. Even Momoa admitted he has big plans for the second film, but what about director James Wan?

Wan, who made a name for himself with fan-favorite horror films such as Saw (2004) and Insidious (2010), ventured into the superhero genre for the first time with Aquaman, and has seemingly killed it. But as far as future films? The 41-year-old director admitted he isn't signed on for anything yet.

“This is my only one that I’ve signed up to do, so we’ll see,” Wan told Variety at last night's Hollywood premiere of the film. “Let’s not talk about a sequel before this one’s even come out yet!”

As far as Momoa, he's way past the fear of jinxing things.

“I definitely have an opinion,” Momoa told Syfy Wire on the development of a potential Aquaman series. “Even when we were shooting Aquaman, I have the opening of Aquaman 2 ready. I went in and pitched it to [producer Peter] Safran, and I pitched it to [Warner Bros. chairman] Toby Emmerich. They loved it. It’s awesome...But yeah, I have plans for Aquaman 2.”

Hopefully Momoa's plans include Wan returning to the director's chair.
