Though Avengers: Endgame capped off the long saga that began with the very first Avengers film, news is already beginning to emerge on the direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4, which is believed to begin with the premiere of Black Widow sometime next year. Among this slew of new announcements is a rumor about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that suggests that the new film will feature characters including the High Evolutionary, Moondragon, and Lady Lylla.

The rumor emerged this week from Twitter user @RogerWardell, who, according to ComicBook.com, was previously responsible for accurate leaks about Avengers: Endgame. According to @RogerWardell, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will feature the discovery that “Rocket's creator is the High Evolutionary,” the emergence of “a love interest in the form of Lylla,” and the revelation that Drax’s daughter is alive.

The High Evolutionary, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, is a longtime cosmic villain in the Marvel Universe, appearing in Thor, Fantastic Four, and Guardians of the Galaxy comics, while Lylla is a sentient otter who is romantically entangled with Rocket (voiced in the film by Bradley Cooper). Though Roger Wardell did not mention the name of Drax (Dave Bautista)’s daughter, the character in the comics is a cosmic hero named Moondragon who also goes on to join the Guardians.

Wardell also teased that “Nebula and Star Lord [sic] will grow into closer friends,” an idea that jibes well with the suggestion that the film will see Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) searching for an alternate version of Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Also joining, based on the end of Endgame, will be Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

As for us, we’re not fully sure whether this rumor will hold water--but if it’s true, we’re excited to see how it plays out when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters.
