Idris Elba seems to be the (h)it man DC is looking for. After it was announced that Will Smith would not be returning to reprise his role as Deadshot for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, fans have been speculating who could be his replacement.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Idris Elba is at the top of the list for producers and Gunn. Apparently, he has met with the director about the role already and is his first and only choice.

After Warner Bros. brought in Gunn to direct and write the script for the sequel, Gunn reportedly churned it out pretty quickly and now they are headed for the casting stage of production.

Gunn will be using new DC characters who were not showcased in Suicide Squad, but he will be bringing back Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and possibly Rick Flagg, to our knowledge.

Even if Elba doesn't get the role, he's already preparing for it now in Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, where he plays a villain.

Fans can expect The Suicide Squad to debut in 2021.
