Harley Quinn Might Not Be Appearing in James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad'

Big changes are happening in the DC Universe. Movie drops, cast drops, and reconfigurations. Among these changes comes news of different plans for already announced films such as Matt Reeves' The Batman and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

Gunn is known for making two successful Guardians of the Galaxy films, but now has traded work with the MCU following being fired and is helming the next Suicide Squad film for the DCEU.

The Suicide Squad will be a completely reimagined reboot of the original Suicide Squad movie directed by David Ayer in 2016. With reboots usually comes recasting, and fans are now sad to see some of the most famous characters from Ayer's film will reportedly not be reprising their roles.

According to SYFY Wire, a new report claims Margot Robbie will not be playing the psychotic Harley Quinn, nor will the character even make an appearance in Gunn's film. However, her character was so popular with fans, that DC promptly announced two spinoff films with one being Birds of Prey, and the other featuring a Joker/Harley Quinn romance.

But while Birds of Prey is definitely happening, with a 2020 release date, the Harley and Joker film has reportedly been canned for now.

So we can expect to see Robbie reprise her role for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), however we're not sure when afterwards.

Who do you want to play in the new Suicide Squad?
