Halle Berry, Lupita Nyong'o, Kim Kardashian & more A-listers celebrate Juneteenth 2021

It's official, June 19 2021, is the eleventh American federal holiday after President Joe Biden signed the bill on June 17, 2021, making "Juneteenth" the official holiday to commemorate the true ending of slavery in the United States. A-listers spammed social media with celebratory and informative posts from people acknowledging the special day, including Halle Berry, Lupita Nyong'o, and Kim Kardashian, to just name a few.

"Happy #Juneteenth everyone! We’ve come so far — but we know we still have a long way to go," Halle Berry wrote on Twitter, also asking people to share their Black-owned businesses to "highlight a few today." See the post below.

Lupita Nyong'o also took to social media to post a photo of educator and social activist Opal Lee, known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth", on her Instagram.

"We owe deep respect to Ms. Opal Lee whose unwavering commitment is surely responsible for the Senate (finally!) passing a bill to make Juneteenth a federal holiday this week," the actress wrote in part. "I hope you’ll join me in thanking @TheRealOpalLee for her inspiring accomplishment, let alone at 94 years of age!" See the pic and post below.

Whilst, former KUWTK star, Kim Kardashian - who is currently going through a divorce with rapper Kanye West - took to her Instagram Stories to show her support for Juneteenth. The SKIMS founder wrote:

"Happy Juneteenth. Today finally marks the first recognition of June 19th as a national holiday in the US. As we celebrate this progress, we feel inspired to continue the fight for racial equality and the end of systematic racism."
