George Lucas Helped Direct Daenerys and Jon Scene in 'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Premiere

Ever since George Lucas stepped away from one of the biggest franchise, Star Wars, he's had a lot of time on his hands. So of course he had time to visit the set of Game of Thrones as they filmed the season 8 premiere, "Winterfell".
It was Liam Cunningham who first talked to Entertainment Weekly about the secret visit, where Lucas explored the set and talked to Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss. There were no pictures or video to prove the meeting happened at the time until now. HBO has released a 17 minute behind-the-scenes video about "Winterfell" showing footage of the Star Wars creator walking around the set of Thrones.
Lucas stood by as director David Nutter filmed a scene with Jon and Daenerys talking in the castle. Nutter asked Lucas if he could talk to the actors about their performance.
“No direction for you,” Lucas says to Harington. “I don’t really care about you. I don’t care what happens to you.”
David Benioff talked a little bit about having Lucas on set and revealed that when he first heard Lucas wanted to visit, Benioff thought it was a prank. When they realized Lucas wasn't lying they immediately became excited and then nervous because this was the creator of Star Wars.
“The first time I can remember telling stories was me as a kid meshing together these little stormtrooper dolls,” Benioff says. “He’s the one who started our obsession with this kind of epic storytelling.”
It's really great to see the creators of some of the biggest stories in pop culture come together and help one another.
