'Game of Thrones' Teaser Has Fans Debating Where Bran Stark is
By Natalie Zamora

Game of Thrones fans were delighted last night to find not only the Season 8 premiere date, but also 90 seconds of legitimately new footage from the upcoming season, something we hadn’t had over a few seconds of previously. We’ve all been speculating since the end of Season 7 back in Aug. 2017 what exactly would go down with multiple characters and storylines come the final season, and this extremely short teaser has brought on a ton of new theories. The biggest question fans have is: Where is Bran Stark?
The epic new teaser shows Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Arya Stark walking separately through the Crypts of Winterfell with the late Lyanna Stark, Catelyn Stark, and Ned Stark speaking in voice-overs as they pass their statues. As Jon, Sansa, and Arya come together, they see what appear to be statues of themselves, before being distracted by menacing icy winds coming towards them.
After the initial freak out of having a premiere date, fans began theorizing why Bran isn’t included in the scene. Many have taken to social media to share their thoughts, with the most popular belief being one of the oldest still-possible theories for the show. Bran Stark might be the Night King.
OKAY SO. I have been slowly allowing the Bran = Night King theory seep into my brain as time passes. And this trailer...

There's one living Stark who's not apparently "invited" into the Winterfell Crypt. But then, it seems that maybe he shows up, but he brings cold with him. https://t.co/pWY8naQUsL
However, TIME points out how some fans are arguing this teaser might prove Bran isn’t the Night King. “He has no statue because he’s not a Stark anymore,” Reddit user eddey1999 wrote concerning the new clip. “He’s [the Three-Eyed Raven].” Stemming on that, user Amaxophobe stated, “Once you’re the [Three-Eyed Raven], with all of time constantly populating your mind, the short timeframe of Brandon Stark is irrelevant. He no longer has any concept of nor loyalty to being a Stark. Brandon Stark is effectively dead. We have now the [Three-Eyed Raven].”
Apart from fans’ doubts of the super popular theory, even the actor behind Bran, Isaac Hempstead Wright, is against it. “It just doesn’t feel like Game of Thrones,” he said of the Night King theory in 2017. “It feels a little bit too Hollywood.”
Other ideas for Bran’s exclusion in the teaser include him simply not being able to get a wheelchair through the steps to the crypt, the clip being a dream sequence, and Bran just being too unconcerned with whatever his siblings have planned. In any case, we have exactly three months until we start to find everything out. Game of Thrones returns for the last time on April 14.
