'Game of Thrones' Showrunner Hints Even Cast Doesn’t Know How Series Ends

We all have many questions going into the final season of Game of Thrones, such as who will be the one to kill Cersei Lannister, how Jon Snow will find out his true parentage, and of course, which lucky someone will end up on the Iron Throne. The show’s cast has been grilled about the events of the final season while they’re out promoting it, but could it be that they don’t even know?

Multiple cast members have recalled reading the final episode script, as well as explaining how they felt filming their last scene, but recent comments from GoT co-creator David Benioff have us rethinking everything the stars have shared.

While speaking to Digital Spy, Benioff teased the actors don’t actually know how the series ends. "The actors think they know the end, because they were all here for the table read. But that’s not to say that we don't employ deception at times,” he stated. While we’re not sure if Benioff was joking here, he also added, “We have had some success in terms of hiding things, but the actors definitely all believe that they know where this season is going to end.”

The high security surrounding this final season has us believing anything is possible in terms of keeping things secret, but leading the cast to believe an ending that isn’t even true seems a bit too extreme.

We’ll be on the lookout to see if the Game of Thrones cast is as surprised as us while watching the final season, which premieres on April 14.
