If you have been seriously jonesing for a Game of Thrones fix since the epic series ended earlier this year, you'll be happy to hear this news.

Entertainment Weekly reports that HBO is nearing a pilot order for a second GoT prequel series that will focus on the history of the Targaryens. The show would follow the silver-haired royals 200 years before the events of Thrones, showing events which would eventually build to the bloody civil war that split the family into rival camps.

As EW reminds us, the civil war is mentioned by Shireen Baratheon in Game of Thrones. She tells her father, Stannis Baratheon, that she is reading a book about “the story of the fight between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother Aegon for control over the Seven Kingdoms,” adding, “Both of them thought they belonged on the Iron Throne. When people started declaring for one of them or the other, their fight divided the kingdoms in two. Brothers fought brothers, dragons fought dragons. By the time it was over, thousands were dead. And it was a disaster for the Targaryens as well. They never truly recovered.”

Fans know this is not the only prequel on HBO’s radar since the series' end. As we previously reported, the network ordered a pilot starring Naomi Watts that’s set thousands of years before GoT, when Westeros is on the brink of the Long Night war with the White Walkers. It has not been announced if they will order a full series run with the as-yet-untitled prequel or not.

No matter which direction they decide to go, I think I can speak for every GoT fan when I say that it will be great to get back to Westeros.
