'Game of Thrones' Fans Are Freaking Out After Ramsay Bolton Actor is Cast as 'Charming' Role in 'American Gods'
Anyone who has watched all eight seasons of Game of Thrones knows that, if a character ran into Ramsay Bolton, they definitely had bad luck. Now it turns out that the actor who brought the sadistic psychopath to life, Iwan Rheon, will now be portraying a totally different role.
CinemaBlend reports that the 34-year-old was recently cast for Season 3 of American Gods. One might guess, based on his stellar performance as one of the most hated villains in GoT, that he would be taking on another creepy role, however Rheon is actually going to be playing someone much sweeter.
The official American Gods Instagram account posted a picture of the Welch actor this week in a sea of green foliage with pointy ears, along with the caption, “CASTING ALERT…Join us in welcoming @_iwanrheon as the charming, good-natured leprechaun, Liam Doyle.”
Many people took to the comments section to respond to his new look, with one writing, "The opposite of his GoT character." Another joked, "Good natured? So exactly like Ramsay Bolton then." A third added, "Yeah... That's what Ramsay Bolton is known for...good-natured."
Though the other leprechaun on the series, Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber) isn’t exactly what you would call “good-natured,” Rheon is obviously taking a different approach to the mythical creature. The Dirt star will also be joined by fellow newcomers Marilyn Manson, Blythe Danner, and Lela Loren.
Though it will be hard to get images of murderous Ramsay out of our heads, it will be fun to see Rheon in a magical (and more importantly lighter) role.
