'Game of Thrones' Fan Theory Argues Littlefinger Might Be Back in Final Season
By Natalie Zamora

Out of the many deaths on Game of Thrones which fans found extremely satisfying, Petyr Baelish, otherwise known as Littlefinger, had quite a memorable death scene in Season 7. The scene in question saw the Arya, Sansa, and Bran Stark coming together to confront him on all his wrongdoings over the years. While fans cheered to see him go, a resurfaced fan theory for the upcoming final season claims we might not be through with the manipulative character.
Reddit user MrSilenceT has pointed out a few moments in Season 7 which could argue Littlefinger is coming back, as highlighted by Metro.
The first comes from the Season 7 episode “Spoils of War,” which proves Bran Stark is finally catching onto Littlefinger’s ill intentions. Bran recites the “Chaos is a ladder” line back to Petyr, a reference from his past. Many fans wondered then why Littlefinger wasn’t suspicious enough to do anything. Fast forward to the next episode, “Eastwatch,” and he is told by a young woman in a soft yet extremely creepy whisper, “Sorry, your time is up.” To that, Littlefinger hands her what looks very similar to an iron coin of the Faceless Men. While this all confused many viewers, the fact that he was slain by Arya just two episodes later kind of halted our speculation there.
However, according to the Redditor, we shouldn’t have believed Baelish was killed off that easily. The theory argues the person we saw in the final Season 7 episode was actually one of the Faceless Men disguised as Littlefinger.
Given Littlefinger was completely shocked when it became obvious the Stark siblings were turning against him in “The Dragon and the Wolf,” the theorist believes this could mean it wasn’t even him at all. The writer points out the fact that whenever he was close to death previously in the series, Littlefinger knew what to do.
“Every single time, calculate and impeccable control. As you would expect from a man that has been plotting for 30 years straight without a rest,” MrSilenceT writes. “Such a man will not be taken by surprise when the end comes. But a faceless man playing the last moments of this man would think he would be…”
It’s true. Littlefinger dropping to his knees so suddenly after he realizes what’s truly going on was not expected whatsoever. But why would a Faceless Man be willing to die for him? This is less clear, but Littlefinger has stated previously that his grandfather was from Braavos. There could easily be way more about his past and his family we just don’t know about.
While it’s possible this fan theory is just that: a theory, the Redditor has all but convinced me this could very well happen. It’s the final season of Game of Thrones after all. I’m at least hoping for some crazy twists when the series returns on April 14.
