'Game of Thrones' Cancelled Prequel Star Naomi Ackie Weighs in on the Sad News

Game of Thrones fans were thrown for a loop last week when it was announced that HBO was scrapping the highly-anticipated prequel set thousands of years before the events of the flagship series. Though there wasn’t a clear reason given, the network quickly announced it would be moving forward with House of the Dragon, another prequel series set before GoT and focused on the Targaryens.
While many are excited about the confirmed series, it isn’t without some ill feelings about the cancelled show. CinemaBlend reports that Naomi Ackie, who was set to star in the axed prequel, has broken silence about what she thinks of the sad news.

The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star was recently at the British Independent Film Awards nominations, and when asked about she thought about HBO pulling the plug, she blew a raspberry and gave a thumbs down, saying:
“Can you put that in [the article]? It’s an industry in which things happen, things get put down, I’m just really excited about what is out there for me now. That was a great project, it didn’t work out. I’m ready to look for more stuff. [I’m] taking it in my stride. This industry will throw you about left, right and center so you’ve got to take it in your stride!”
While it is part of showbiz, it can’t be easy to have an opportunity to be a part of the Game of Thrones universe, only to have it cut last minute. We hope to maybe see her in House of the Dragon, or any other GoT projects that happen in the future!
