'Game of Thrones' Author George RR Martin Gives His 'Captain Marvel' Review
By Hannah Wigandt

Captain Marvel has finally hit theaters and it is pleasing fans and critics alike, even Game of Thrones author George RR Martin. The author had such strong feelings about the film, he took to his blog to give his critique.
"The newest Marvel movie, Captain Marvel, is a lot of fun. As an old (very very old) Marvel fanboy, I am a little saddened that they dropped the original Captain Marvel (not counting Fawcett’s Big Red Cheese), the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, from the continuity," the author shared on his site. "'The Death of Captain Marvel' [storyline] was one of Marvel’s classics, way back when. Maybe that’s just me, though. I am kind of a purist when it comes to adaptations."
Despite Martin's "purist" ideals about the film, he talked about how it did a good job of explaining the Captain Marvel storyline for fans who weren't aware of her initially.
"Considered just on its own terms, the movie is hugely entertaining," Martin continued. "I look forward to seeing how the Marvel teams uses the captain in the forthcoming Avengers movie. Once she comes fully into her powers, she is far and away the most powerful character in the MCU. She could eat Iron Man for lunch and have Thor for dessert, with a side of Dr. Strange. Thanos is in trouble now.."
Martin even added a warning to definitely stay for the post-credits scenes, which are of course such a huge part of marketing future Marvel movies.
It looks like Martin just gave us his seal of approval. Captain Marvel is out now.
