'Game of Thrones' Apparently Didn't Film Multiple Endings After All

Writers and directors in Hollywood are combating leaks and spoilers by shooting multiple endings to their stories. These aren't a result of indecision on how to come to an ending, but instead they're designed to fake out fans and lead them off the trail. So when it came time to shoot the conclusion to one of the most popular (and most leaked) television shows in history, many thought this would be the case for Game of Thrones as well. Well, fans just got fooled again.

When HBO Programming President Casey Bloys hinted that there would be multiple endings shot for the series finale of Thrones back in 2017, "so that nobody really know what happens," fans began speculating if the many endings would come out after the show debuted its finale episode. But his hint might've seriously mislead us.

Bloys recently admitted Deadline that his quote was actually said "anecdotally, and it caught on."

"I don’t think they actually shot multiple endings," Bloys said. "But putting that in the water supply wasn’t a bad thing to protect against leaks. They always had a little bit of edge of doubt because you couldn’t be totally sure."

In the end though, the show was leaked despite the hardships everyone behind the scenes took to prevent it. "I think there was somebody who was posting. … You could’ve found it if you wanted to but most people want to experience and go on a ride — I think it’s a testament to the show," Bloys added.

Even if there were multiple endings, we don't think fans could ever come to an agreement on how exactly Game of Thrones should've ended. And if you're one of the many now grieving the show's end, we suggest some Thrones counseling.
