Former 'Walking Dead' Star Chandler Riggs Auditioned to Play Spider-Man

Chandler Riggs is most widely known for his role as Carl on The Walking Dead, but he recently revealed that he auditioned for a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to ComicBook.com.

“I auditioned for Spider-Man, I thought that would have been cool. But it’s okay, it’s okay,” Riggs said at San Joe Fan Fest.

Fellow Walking Dead star Ross Marquand appeared with Riggs at the fan fest, and told him, “You are Spider-Man, you are Peter Parker.”

Riggs also stood up for the actor that did land the role, 22-year-old Tom Holland.

“But Tom Holland, he does such an amazing job as Spider-Man, he’s seriously amazing. It’s awesome,” Riggs said. “I watched Homecoming a few weeks ago and he’s so funny, and like so perfect for the role, it’s really well done.”

Fans didn’t want to let the subject go, and one asked if there were any other superheroes that the 19-year-old actor would want to play in the future.

“I don’t know, I feel like there’s a lot of [them], there’s so many opportunities, but I don’t know,” he said. “We’ll see.”

Riggs’ character Carl Grimes was killed off The Walking Dead in its eighth season, but he has stayed busy, even pursuing a possible career path change.

“I’m actually producing music kind of on the side, and I'm starting to play some shows and things like that,” Riggs told Los Angeles’ KTLA 5. “I’m doing that and acting, it's quite a lot to juggle but it's a lot of fun.”

But Riggs hasn’t given up acting completely. In September he said that he’s been “taking some acting classes” and will “be in something soon.”
