To infinity and beyond! A first look at Pixar's prequel, Lightyear, has been unveiled in a new teaser trailer online. The movie will see Marvel's Chris Evans voice the iconic character of Buzz Lightyear, with the film due out next summer.

The short clip is soundtracked by David Bowie's iconic and very appropriate 'Starman', and even gives us a teaser of Buzz's iconic catchphrase: "To infinity, and beyond".

Lightyear has been described by Pixar's chief creative officer Pete Docter as the "definitive story of the original Buzz Lightyear" with "a new twist to an iconic character".

The movie was first confirmed in December last year during Disney Investor Day as part of a slate of announcements from the company.

Chris Evans, who takes over the role from Tim Allen, reacted to his casting at the time by admitting he didn't "even have words".

He elaborated: "The phrase 'a dream come true' gets thrown around a lot, but I've never meant it more in my life. Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep.

"I can't believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day."
