Emilia Clarke Thanks Fans for Support Following Her Reveal She Suffered Two Brain Aneurysms
By Kwadar Ray

Emilia Clarke penned a deeply emotional personal essay, published Thursday in The New Yorker, detailing her battle with two brain aneurysms shortly after beginning her role on Game of Thrones.
The Daenerys actress opened up about the life-threatening incidents, saying after suffering from a bad headache in 2011 she was rushed to a hospital and had an MRI. "The diagnosis was quick and ominous: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke, caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain," Clarke explained.
A third of SAH patients do not survive, Clarke writes, but she was lucky enough to have urgent surgery. However, post-surgery was a mental and physical struggle for the actress. She writes that in her worst moments, she wanted to pull the plug. "I asked the medical staff to let me die. My job—my entire dream of what my life would be—centered on language, on communication. Without that, I was lost," she pens.
She was managed to keep filming for GoT, but believed she could legitimately die on set at any moment. She went in for a second surgery in 2013 and had another difficult road to recovery where she, once again, saw death as a better option. Luckily, Clarke has recovered since and was able to share her story.
Fans across the globe have poured in with reactions to the 32-year-old star's essay.
reading that emilia would have rather died than suffer what she had to and still being the human sunshine she is has honestly brought tears to my eyes she’s so brave

Clarke has seen the tons of responses to her story, and took time today to thank everyone for their kind words. "A million million thank you's to everyone who has read, shared and sent love for my story, it's a beautiful thing to behold and I can't quite believe how many of you this has affected," she captioned an Instagram post thanking her supporters.
The actress, being the living embodiment of an angel that she is, also encouraged people to share their recovery stories to SameYou, a charity Clarke launched dedicated to increasing access to rehabilitation after brain injuries and strokes for young people.
We have nothing but love and support for Clarke, who deserves praise for using her story and platform to help others who were and are in a similar state as she was.
