Disney Announces Series of 'Star Wars' Animated Shorts

Any Star Wars fanatic who is also a parent faces a constant struggle— what is an appropriate age to introduce your children to the films?

Die-hard fans who are also committed parents come into a clash of morals due to age-inappropriate content in the Star Wars film franchise.

Disney has now solved this struggle for parents with the creation of Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, a new series of kid-friendly animated shorts that will recreate classic moments from the films, according to StarWars.com.

The trailer for this new series was released across social media on Wednesday.

The first six shorts will launch on Friday on the new Star Wars Kids website and YouTube channel. The website not only features the series, but a number of Star Wars games and activities made specifically for kids.

“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content,” said James Waugh, vice president for franchise content and strategy for Lucasfilm.

On the website, parents can also find “mixed-media shorts” focusing on Star Wars fun facts, as well as guides that help them better discuss the shorts with their children once they’re done watching.

These new additions to the Star Wars content collection are a part of a "multi-pronged initiative under the Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures banner" to spread the fanbase into younger generations.
