Diana Rigg Did Not Want to See Lady Olenna Killed Off on 'Game of Thrones’

Out of all the countless who met their demise throughout Game of Thrones, Lady Olenna Tyrell is one of the many characters we will miss in the upcoming final season. While she ended her life with a bang, getting an awesome speech in which she revealed to Jaime Lannister she was responsible for the death of his son, King Joffrey, we still would’ve loved to see her again messing with the Lannisters in the finale. And it looks like the actress behind the character, Diana Rigg, totally agrees.

In an interview with The Guardian, the 80-year-old actress confessed she would’ve kept playing the fan-favorite character if she could’ve. “It wasn’t my decision to have Lady Olenna killed off in Game of Thrones. I’d love to have stayed on,” she stated, before hilariously adding, “Thank God I didn’t die on a toilet like Charles Dance’s character.” She’s, of course, referring to the actor behind Tywin Lannister, whose character saw his end in the season four finale at the hands of his own son, Tyrion Lannister. And yes, he was on the toilet when he was killed with Joffrey's crossbow.

While no one wants to see their character killed off a show as great as Game of Thrones, Rigg should consider herself lucky she got such an epic scene, besides just the fact she wasn’t in a less-than-preferable position.
