'Captain Marvel' Almost Featured Comics Character Helen Cobb

A lot of times when comics make the journey from page to screen, things have to be altered to fit the sometimes lengthy story into a movie with a runtime around two hours. Trying to fit in every detail and character into a film can be nearly impossible, leading many elements to be cut. Captain Marvel is no different, as character Helen Cobb was apparently axed from the film.

In comics about Captain Marvel penned by Kelly Sue DeConnick, Carol Danvers meets her inspiration Helen Cobb when she travels back in time. Cobb holds the record for highest flight, a record Danvers wants to beat.

Cobb originally made it to the Captain Marvel script but was cut in the end, however even though she's gone, there are still traces of her in other characters.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked to ComicBook.com to say that since Captain Marvel was based off of DeConnick's characters, Cobb almost made the film.

"You know, there's a lot of discussions about Helen Cobb and bring her in somehow. And, she was in some drafts," Feige said. "But ultimately, the story is about Carol Danvers, so everything had to focus and funnel through her."

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.
