BTS's band members—who include RM, JinSugaJ-HopeJiminV, and Jungkook—announced they are taking a break in a video posted to social media on June 14.

"We're each going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things," Jungkook said. "We promise we will return someday, even more mature than we are now."

Despite Suga saying, "We're going on a hiatus now," a rep for the band confirmed in a statement, "To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats."

While the K-pop stars didn't note how long the non-hiatus will last, they expressed their desire to explore solo projects. "I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don't give you time to mature," RM said per NME's translation. "You have to keep producing music and keep doing something."
