Bridgerton actress Ruby Barker is bravely speaking about her mental health, including a recent hospitalization, to help encourage others to more carefully consider their mental health and get support when they need it.

In a more than five-minute video shared on her Instagram account Thursday, the actress shared that she was about to be discharged from a mental health facility and was planning to take some time away.

“I’ve been really unwell for a really long time, and I just wanted the honest with everybody. I have been struggling,” she said. “So I’m in the hospital at the minute and I’m gonna get discharged soon and hopefully get to continue with my life. I’m gonna take a little bit of a break for myself and I want to encourage others if you are struggling, please do yourself a favor. Take a break. Stop being so hard on yourself.”

During the video, the actress apologized to fans for stepping back from the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company’s world premiere of Running With Lions due to a combination of her mental health and a COVID-19 diagnosis. Check out the video below!
