Since the directing duo behind Avengers: Endgame, the Russo brothers, will have some free time on their hands now that they don't have any more Marvel movies on the docket, Disney CEO Bob Iger seems interested in bringing the brother directors on for a future Star Wars project.

It all started when Twitter user @BrunoBernier1 tweeted, "If anyone deserves anything more after Marvel, it's the Russo Brothers who should come and do some #StarWars stuff to revitalize the franchise. Their work is worth pure gold." This got a stamp of approval from Iger, who replied in a tweet, "Love them!"

The brothers vocalized wanting to move on from Marvel, and will be directing a drama called Cherry starring Spider-Man actor Tom Holland for their next project. However, in an interview with Variety back in 2017, the brothers also seemed interested in taking on a movie set in a galaxy far, far away, as pointed out by ScreenRant.

"I sat in a theater when I was 11 years old and watched The Empire Strikes Back from 10 in the morning until 10 at night the day it came out," said Joe Russo. "To say we’re obsessed with Star Wars is an understatement. We’d absolutely love to do a Star Wars film."

Here's hoping that after they take on some outside projects, the brothers will return to the Disney conglomerate and take on a Star Wars film.
