Benedict Wong Says 'Doctor Strange 2' Will Likely Start Filming Next Year
By Shawnie Hamer

Since the release of the first Doctor Strange film in 2016, fans have been anxiously anticipating the release date of a sequel, but without satisfaction. The events of Avengers: Endgame added to this curiosity even more, leaving fans in the dark as to where the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to take us next.
Benedict Wong has shined a little light into this darkness.
LRM reports that the 48-year-old actor recently made an appearance at Denver Pop Culture Con, where he stated that Doctor Strange 2 might begin filming soon.
Wong explained, “I know they’ve now got a writer on board who I met at the Endgame premiere, so I think that may be happening sometime next year.”

It is still unclear if “that” means it will begin filming next year, or release next year. However, Comicbook.com reports that director Scott Derrickson and his co-writer C. Robert Cargill are believed to be returning, and that the film is expected to hold a May 2021 release date.
Though this mention can give fans something to cling to for the remainder of 2019, it is far from an official confirmation. Thankfully, Doctor Strange (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch) played a big role in Endgame. I guess that will have to be our Doctor fix for now.
