For fans of major action franchises such as Game of Thrones, Avengers and Stranger Things, this year has been an emotionally turbulent one. This week, Avengers: Endgame directors, the Russo Brothers, made a nod to the synergized suffering, joking that they'll collaborate with Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, to make fans cry.

The Russo Brothers’ joint Twitter account tweeted on Monday a meme of two arms--one labelled “The Russo Brothers” and the other labelled “The Duffer Brothers”--shaking hands, along with the caption “Duffer Bros X Russo Bros collab?”

The joke points at the fact that both works feature major emotional moments in their most recent entries. In the case of Endgame, this moment was the death of Iron Man--and for the sake of spoilers, we won’t say anything about Stranger Things except that it features a moment of equal heartbreaking intensity.

As for us, we know that the collaboration is only a joke, but we’re going to keep our guard up, just in case such a tear-jerking partnership ever comes to be true. In the meantime, we’ll tune into Stranger Things Season 3, on Netflix now.
