Ariana Grande Speaks to Estranged Father on Christmas With Sweet Instagram Story
By Jennifer Fabiano

Ariana Grande is always quick to share cute pictures and videos of her mom (Joan Grande) and grandma (Marjorie, a.k.a Nonna) with her fans, but when it comes to her dad, the pop star is relatively quiet.
Only recently did Grande explicitly mention her father in her music. In her hit single Thank U, Next, she sings, “One day I’ll walk down the aisle/ holding hands with my mama/ I’ll be thanking my dad ’cause she grew from the drama.”
But on Christmas, it seems Ari put aside that drama and enjoyed a nice chat with her father, Edward Butera. On Tuesday, Ariana shared a black and white photo of the FaceTime screen with her dad on her Instagram Story.
Ariana’a parents split when she was eight, according to Entertainment Tonight. In 2014, the pop star opened up to Seventeen about her difficult relationship with her father, who is a Florida-based graphic designer.
“It’s private … It took me so long to be okay with it,” she explained.
“The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him,” Grande said. “So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”
It seems that Ariana and her father have been on better terms lately. The singer shared a childhood photo for Father’s Day 2017 and even included “I love you” in the caption.
This has been a tough year for the 25-year-old singer, so we hope that her father is comforting her during the hard times.
