Ariana Grande Reportedly Turned Down Damehood for This Reason

In May 2017, an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England was at the center of the world's attention. Unfortunately, it wasn't because of the singer's musical prowess, but rather because of the terrorist bombing that killed 22 people and left many seriously injured who were attending the concert.

Just weeks after the attack, Grande organized the benefit concert, "One Love Manchester," which raised millions for the victims.

Grande has been heralded for her charity work since the aftermath, and we now know that Queen Elizabeth II was also highly grateful for the act. The Sun recently reported that Grande was offered honorary damehood by the Queen.

The title would recognize the singer's charity work, but Grande reportedly declined the offer because she didn't feel the honor would be appropriate.

An annonymous source told The Sun, "Ariana was flattered but said it was too soon. She explained she was still grieving. So were socres of familiies. She feared some affected might see it as insensitive. The committee wrote to her but she politely said no."

While Grande reportedly politely declined the honor, there's a good chance she will return to Manchester once more to headline the Manchester Pride Festival in Aug. 2019.
