After Alice Marie Johnson was recognized as a guest of honor at the State of the Union on Tuesday night, she took to social media to announce some big news. With the spotlight on her, Johnson revealed on Twitter that her book, After Life: My Journey From Incarceration to Freedom, will be released in May with a foreword from Kim Kardashian.

Kim, who has been active in prison and justice reform over the last year, advocated to President Donald Trump on behalf of Johnson’s case for clemency.
Johnson is working with HarperCollins Publishers to produce what the publisher called an “honest, faith-driven memoir,” and a “deep look into the systematic issue of mass incarceration.” The film, television, and "life rights" were sold to Endeavor Content and One Community.
“I feel humbled that the telling of my story gives hope and my years of pain were not in vain,” Johnson said in a statement.
Kim was not present at the State of the Union, but celebrated Johnson’s appearance on Twitter.

In a statement, Kim talked about the influence Johnson had on her. "My life has forever changed because of Alice Marie Johnson," Kim said. "Her story is a gift that will now reach so many millions more through her book and film. I hope Alice's case is just the beginning of a movement to help those left behind. I am invested in continuing to support Alice and this cause."
