A Starbucks Cup May Have Made Accidental Cameo in the Latest Episode of 'Game of Thrones' [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Executive producer for Game of Thrones, Bernie Caulfield, has admitted that there is an accidental coffee cup in a shot from Season 8 episode "The Last of the Starks." Per Complex, she told WNYC:

"Our on-set prop people and decorators are so on it one thousand percent. I just honestly can’t, I’m like, is that really? Because nowadays you can’t believe what you see because people can put things into a photo that really doesn’t exist. But I guess maybe it was there, I’m not sure. But, yeah. We’re sorry!"

While last night’s episode of Game of Thrones was again met with divided opinions from fans, none of us can really deny this mess-up.

The new episode, titled “The Last of the Starks,” set up the war that’s to come against Cersei Lannister, and showed many of the characters finding out that Jon Snow is the true heir to the throne. Basically, Daenerys Targaryen has a lot to worry about in these next two episodes, and perhaps so does show’s crew. Fans were quick to discover while watching that a modern coffee cup, seemingly from Starbucks, accidentally made it into a shot.

Around the 17:50-minute mark, we see Daenerys sitting off by herself while Tormund and some of the men are praising Jon for being a great leader (awkward!), and a coffee cup is sitting right in front of her. Did she not notice? How did this happen?

Of course, fans have found this mishap hilarious, and the memes about it are already coming out. Both “Starbucks Cup” and “Starbucks Coffee” are even trending on Twitter.

As funny as this mistake is, here’s to hoping it doesn’t happen again. We need no distractions going into the final episodes of Game of Thrones.
