As we're preparing to say goodbye to 2019, it seems necessary to look back on the biggest celebrity relationship moments. Some romance began, some continued to flourish, and some just didn't manage to make it.
Here are the nine most upsetting celebrity breakups of the year.
1. Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk
While Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk never officially got married, the couple was together for over four years and share a daughter. However, after the success of Cooper's film A Star is Born, along with the rumors of an alleged romance with Lady Gaga, it seemed their relationship was doomed. They split in June.
2. Lady Gaga and Christian Carino
It seems A Star is Born was bad luck for all relationships involved. Just as Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk broke up, so did Lady Gaga and Christian Carino. The two had been together for about two years before their split in February.
3. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth got married in December of 2018, however, didn't make it to a year. The two met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, and split in August.
4. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott shocked everyone this year when they split in October. While they weren't married, they share daughter, Stormi, and continue to be dedicated parents. The two got together back in April 2017. They remain very close, so fans are hoping for a reconciliation in 2020.
5. Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
It seems to have been a bad year for Kardashian-Jenner relationships. Almost a year after giving birth to their daughter, True, Khloé Kardashian split up with Tristan Thompson in February over the epic cheating scandal involving Jordyn Woods.
6. Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter
Speaking of Jenners, Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter split up this year after about six years together. According to People, Kaitlynn was skeptical after their "wedding" on whether or not Brody was the right match for her. They announced their separation in August.
7. Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx
The extremely private Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx surprised fans this year when publicly spent time together at the Met Gala. But, after six years of a relationship, they called it quits in May.
8. Adele and Simon Konecki
Adele and Simon Konecki were together for seven years but in April of this year, decided to end things. According to Elle, they are committed to keeping their divorce civil for their son.
9. Brie Larson and Alex Greenwald
Brie Larson and Alex Greenwald got engaged shortly after the actress won an Oscar for Room back in 2016. Sadly, however, they parted ways in January after almost three years together.
