Rihanna loves supporting her fans, but she also loves messing with them, especially when it comes to her music.
Rihanna’s ninth studio album, which fans have dubbed “R9,” has been long anticipated. Fans haven’t received new music from the singer for three years, since she dropped her last album ANTI.
The Barbadian singer never left the limelight, however, with her ventures into the fashion, beauty, philanthropy and film worlds, not to mention her relationship with billionaire Hassan Jameel.
Usually, Rihanna just ignores the question of “where’s the music, sis?” but on Instagram this past weekend she decided to make a meme of herself addressing the need for new music. Over a selfie on her Instagram Story, she wrote, "where the album? Me: sorry my connection poor."
This definitely isn’t the first time Rihanna trolled fans about her next album.
Fans have only received minimal information about her new music over the past couple of months.
Earlier this month, Rihanna's vocal producer said that her next album is "incredible." The singer herself also confirmed it will be coming in 2019.
There were also reports of at least ten new songs being registered to ASCAP for the new project, which is rumored to be a dance hall album. Nah Left and Waist Line Down were registered as songs in November.
Though no official release date for R9 has been released yet, we know the new year will bring the long-awaited new music.
