Peggy Carter actress, Hayley Atwell, wants to trade in acting for a chance to sit in the director's chair for a while. But she's not looking to make too much of a change, as she wants to direct a film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the direction of the franchise is left unknown after Spider-Man: Far From Home closes out Phase 3, there definitely seems like the studios might be in need of a director or two.

Atwell expressed her desire to give directing a shot during a convention appearance, after being asked which MCU character she would like to play next. The 37-year-old star responded she'd rather direct a Marvel movie.

“I’ll direct a film. I would like to do that instead,” she said.

Since Endgame seemingly saw the end of Agent Carter's storyline as Steve Rogers joins her back in the 1940s, it seems like Atwell's character might be retired.

If Atwell does take on directing for this franchise, she would be the third woman director in the MCU. The first was Anna Boden, who co-directed Captain Marvel, and the second will be Cate Shortland, who is set to direct Black Widow.
