Right on the heels of Cardi B's big debut, Nicki Minaj returns with two new songs, "Barbie Tingz" and "Chun-Li," ready to call claim to the throne of Queen of Rap.
Previously announced on Tuesday via Nicki's Instagram, the two tracks are the rapper's first solo singles since 2014's The Pinkprint, and follows her successful appearance on Migos' "Motorsport," which also features Cardi B.
Over gritty production and an aggressive flow, "Chun-Li" sports bars such as "How many of them coulda did it with finesse/now everybody like she really is the best/you playin checkers, couldn’t beat me playin chess/now i’m about to turn around and beat my chest/b**** it’s King Kong/b**** I've been on.”
Possibly a tiny jab at the "Finesse" featuring Cardi B, Nicki could be taking some rather tame shots at her increasingly rising competition. As of this post, it's still an unconfirmed diss, as Nicki could have just happened to use the word "finesse," despite its recent connection to Cardi.
Last year Nicki told The Fader her upcoming project will be "the most memorable and the most impactful of my career yet.” Equally, she told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio her new music is "her best yet."
