Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a huge milestone for many celebrities. Once you see your name engraved, you know you’ve made it big. Well long and behold, this beloved Star Wars actor has finally received one.
Mark Hamill has finally been honored with the star on Thursday (March 8)! The honoree was joined by his Star Wars crew: R2-D2, a stormtrooper, creator of Star Wars George Lucas, and co-stars Harrison Ford, Kelly Marie Tran, and Billie Lourd.
His honoring took place in front of El Capitan Theatre with excited fans and guests overjoyed for the beloved actor finally receiving a spot on the Walk of Fame.
"Mark Hamill is a character that can't be written," said Lucas.
"I'm very proud of Mark for getting his star. We've been around together for I don't want to say how many years and we've come a long way from that casting session," he continued.
Harrison Ford also made a speech to congratulate his long time co-star. "There's a lot more people that showed up for my star. A lot more."
He continued his speech, explaining they both went back and watched their original screen test together. "I was surprised actually how good he was," Ford said.
In addition, he paid homage to their late co-star Carrie Fisher. "When thinking about today, I was really sorry that we don't have the other member of our trio here to celebrate with us, but I feel her presence," he said.
"I think he has found comfort and utility and control of his destiny and I'm happy for you, Pal. Congratulations," Ford concluded, then Hamill took the mic to say his thanks.
"These will be brief remarks because words truly fail me," Hamill said. "It's hard to convey my gratitude, my joy, the exhilaration of being recognized this way."
"If it weren't for the public, I'd be nowhere. From Jedi to Joker and back again, it's been a fantastic ride. Thank you so much and may the force with each and every one of you,” he concluded.
Congratulations to Hamill!
