Taylor Swift knocks it out of the park with her new album "Reputation." With over 1.2 million copies sold in the US in approximately three weeks, Swift raises the bar far above previous expectations. However, perhaps even more surprising is her album's song "New Year's Day" debuted at number 40 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Swift's last country song "Highway Don't Care," performed with Tim McGraw, clocked in at number four back in May 2013.

"New Year's Day," on the other hand, debuted ranking number five on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales, selling 11,000 downloads in the week ending Nov. 23. Swift received the song of the year award at this year's CMAs during early November and is now Grammy-nominated for best country song, a songwriters' award.

Taylor also performed the song as a surprise guest on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 13th. Swift performed by herself, responsible for both the vocals and the piano. The song was a show of support for the host, whose mother recently passed.
