10 Actors You Never Knew Appeared in Star Wars

10. Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley appeared in "Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace" as Queen Amidala's handmaiden and decoy Sabe. She was chosen because of her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Queen Amidala in the prequel series. Knightley was only 14 years old when the film was released.

9. Joel Edgerton

Joel Edgerton played a young Owen Lars in the prequel series. Owen Lars of course is an adoptive parent to Luke Skywalker and raised the young Jedi as he had him work on his farm. He is also Anakin Skywalker's stepbrother. Phil Brown played an older Owen Lars in the original films.

8. Daniel Craig

James Bond himself filmed a secret cameo for The Force Awakens as the stormtrooper that Rey hilarious tricks into setting her free. She uses her special Jedi mind tricks. Craig certainly pulled a mind trick on us as there was no way to know we were seeing Craig on our screens as he was masked the whole time! He's as sneaky as... James Bond?

7. Rose Byrne

Rose Byrne played another one of Queen Amidala's handmaidens in the prequel films. She accompanied Portman's Amidala to many government meetings. Byrne would later to go on to star in the show 'Damages' and feature in the 'X-Men' film series.

6. Simon Pegg

The man who plays 'Scotty' in the "Star Trek" films shows up in the other iconic space franchise in complete disguise as the alien junk dealer Unkar Plutt on planet Jakku in The Force Awakens. In behind the scenes features you can see Pegg can barely contain his inner fandom as he is beyond excited to be in the film.

5. Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz

They weren't seen on screen, but Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz's voices were heard in The Force Awakens. They helped provide the voice for BB-8. While BB-8's voice was robotic, it still had a lot of fun personality and life, and it came from these two hilarious dudes.

4. Julian Glover

'Game of Thrones' fans will be surprised to see Maester Pycelle actor Julian Glover on this list. He plays competent General Veers, who assist Darth Vader in fighting the rebels and searching for Luke Skywalker. Along with 'Game of Thrones' and Star Wars, Glover has also appeared in the 'James Bond' franchise. What a trifecta! Busy man.

3. John Ratzenberger

The man best known for his role on 'Cheers' or his many voices in Pixar animated films appeared in The Empire Strikes Back as one of the officers at the Echo Base on Hoth. He is seen hanging out with C-3PO and Leia.

2. Billie Lourd

The late great Carrie Fisher's daughter appeared in The Force Awakens. She played Lt. Connix, a resistance fighter. She even rocks the iconic Leia hairs buns her mother wore in the original film. She will be back as Connix in the upcoming The Last Jedi.

1. Sofia Coppola

No need to do a double take, this is the same picture we used above. But notice something else? Between Kiera Knightley and Natalie Portman is Sofia Coppola. She of course is Francis Ford Coppola's daughter and director of films such as "Lost in Translation." She plays -- you guessed it, one of Amidala's handmaidens. Those parts had some good luck charms.
