Sophie Turner, a.k.a. Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, just destroyed Piers Morgan on Twitter. Morgan, who is a certified internet troll, took to Twitter on Tuesday to take shots at celebrities who openly talk about their struggles with mental health.
The situation all started when actress Beverly Callard was quoted in an article by The Sun saying that she thinks celebrities these days are making mental health "fashionable," thus endangering the public. Morgan retweeted the article, and added some commentary of his own.
She'll be hammered for saying this, but it's 100% true. https://t.co/lxxywZ2Ks5— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 9, 2019
Sophie responded in lightning speed to tell the television presenter, bringing up how it's important for people to speak on such topics which have terrible stigmas.
Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in UK per year. But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. Twat. https://t.co/mvddYPjcht— Sophie Turner (@SophieT) January 9, 2019
Sophie is often very vocal about mental health. On World Mental Health Day, the 22-year-old actress wrote on Twitter, "I understand your pain. Trust me, I do. I’ve seen people go from the darkest moments in their lives to living a happy, fulfilling life. You can do it too. I believe in you. You are not a burden. You will NEVER BE a burden."
The 53-year-old presenter responded on Twitter by laughing at an article that claimed that Sophie "absolutely destroyed Piers Morgan."
Sophie's clapback isn't the first time over the past few months that a young woman has had to set Piers straight for a controversial comment. In November, Ariana Grande dragged Morgan on Twitter after he attacked girl group Little Mix, Ellen DeGeneres, and Ari's mom, Joan Grande.
Ellen is an incredible & kind human being.. I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to. women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice. ? & we will keep fighting til people understand. i say this w all due respect but thank u, next. https://t.co/wSknRSlJN8— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) November 21, 2018
Twitter users shouldn't be too surprised by his action, as he did give fair warning on the last day of 2018 that he wont be changing his ways anytime soon. Morgan wrote on Twitter, "My New Year’s Resolution for 2019 is to be just as annoying, argumentative & insufferably right about everything as I’ve been in 2018. Zero apologies in advance to all whiny PC-crazed snowflake imbeciles who will be horrifically offended by absolutely everything I say or write."
Nevertheless, we're happy Sophie was available to stick up to him and fight for mental health awareness.
