While we still don't even know the title of Star Wars: Episode IX, we do have some details about what to expect when we travel to a Galaxy Far, Far Away once more. For starters, JJ Abrams, who helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be returning as director, and most of our favorite characters will be back, even Carrie Fisher's Leia Organa.

Fisher passed away unexpectedly in Dec. 2016, and fans have been wondering how her death would be dealt with in the Star Wars series ever since. Through unused footage from the previous two movies, Leia will be in Episode IX, though we're not sure if her character will pass away in the final film of the Skywalker Saga.

Leia Organa

In whatever direction Leia's story goes, Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron in the new trilogy, is assuring us she'll be honored the right way.

"The story deals with that quite a bit,” Isaac told The Daily Beast on Fisher's passing. “It’s a strange thing to be on the set and to be speaking of Leia and having Carrie not be around. There’s definitely some pain in that.” He also made sure to add that the movie "deals with the amazing character that Carrie created in a really beautiful way."

It will be difficult to see Fisher on our screens again knowing she's gone, but Leia deserves an ending fit for the actress who portrayed her. Episode IX is due out in theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
