After the success of Black Panther, fans looked eagerly to Marvel Studios' release schedule for 2019-2022 for signs that a sequel was in the works. In a word to IndieWire, director Ryan Coogler let us all know how the movie is shaping up so far.

"I got nothing... I don't know nothing... It is true, I'm telling you. I don't know," Coogler stated.

Cue the disappointment. Fans are hopeful, however, that after Avengers 4 comes out next year, the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be clearly explained and Coogler will have more information to work on.

Coogler has a busy schedule right now and it makes sense that he wouldn't start on Black Panther 2 until he and Marvel are able to officially announce pre-production.

On Coogler's busy film slate right now is the true-life drama Wrong Answer with Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan. He's also producing Creed II and Space Jam 2 with LeBron James.

Fans will have to wait just a little longer for a return to Wakanda in his own feature, but most likely we will see Black Panther's homeland again in Avengers 4, coming out next year.
