Days after Mac Miller passed away, fans, friends, and family alike have come together to honor the late rapper and mourn.

While countless celebrities have honored Miller's death in various ways, his vigil on Sept. 11 was particularly personal, as it took place at his favorite childhood playground in Pittsburgh, Blue Slide Park, the same name of his debut studio album.

According to KDKA, the vigil attracted thousands of supporters. "It’s just incredible to come here knowing he’s been here," a fan said. "Knowing this was such an influence on his life and knowing he’s been such a big influence of mine." Another added, "I was heartbroken. I’ve been crying for like four days."

Miller's grandmother attended the event and spoke to the crowd, telling everyone how much city and park meant to the rapper. "He would be so excited," she said. "I wish he was here, but he loves you all. He loves Pittsburgh and everything you have done for him."

Fans passed around a petition to actually rename the park "Mac Miller Blue Slide Park," however, Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto said it could take years to make a change like that.

"There are strict rules on naming of public assets within the city now," Peduto told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette"I believe it's three years after someone has passed that you can then name something after them. This was basically done in order to not have politicians naming things after themselves while they're still in office."

It's amazing to see all the love gathered around Mac Miller's favorite place yesterday. He is missed already.
