After the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, actress Kelly Marie Tran received an influx of backlash from haters online including racist and sexist abuse, leading her to delete her social media accounts.
Though there are fans and colleagues of Tran, including Mark Hamill and Jenny Han who continue to show her support, recently a new supporter joined the troops, this time all the way from the Wizarding World.
Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter franchise, showed her support for Tran on both Instagram and Twitter, sporting a t-shirt with Tran's Star Wars character on it that she wore to London Film and Comic Con.
Leung showed even more support for Tran on Twitter saying, "Racism/misogyny is a b****. Get well soon."
Racism/misogyny is a bitch. Get well soon.✌️ https://t.co/catOIA5C44— Katie Leung (@Kt_Leung) July 30, 2018
Fans showed their appreciation for Leung's efforts in supporting Tran, according to FANSIDED.
Despite the cruelty and bad intentions many had in showing backlash and abuse toward Tran, it will be to no avail for them. Last week, the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX was announced and Tran's name was listed as one of the returning characters.
