One of the biggest mic drops DC landed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con was the reveal of the first trailer for the highly anticipated 'Shazam!' film. The fun-filled trailer showed off the film's comedic tone and did a good job of laying out the premise of a teenager inhabiting the body of a demigod.
But many fans have gotten anxious over the fact that the trailer doesn't feature many action sequences, and a few took to Twitter to question director David Sandberg directly. His response was pretty simple: the video effects for the film's fight scenes hadn't finished rendering and couldn't be shown at the screening.
"Well it was just a teaser," Sandberg tweeted about the trailer. "None of the action stuff is ready to show yet. You'll have to wait for a proper trailer later on." In an additional tweet, he promised that visual tweaks will continue throughout post production, and none of the effects seen in the teaser will be final.
'Shazam!' is currently set for an April 5, 2019 release, and stars Zachary Levi as the eponymous hero, Asher Angel as his teenage alter ego, Mark Strong as his primary villain, Djimon Hounsou as his enigmatic mentor, and Jack Dylan Grazer as his best friend Freddy.
