It seemed like all of the original Star Wars cast to survive Return of the Jedi had returned for The Force Awakens, as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia, and Luke Skywalker joined a fresh cast for the sequel trilogy, but one character wasn't even mentioned once: Lando Calrissian.

Played by Billy Dee Williams, the character will make his return to the big screen in Episode IX, most recently played by Donald Glover in a prequel anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Williams will probably have a substantial role in the film, as previous films saw the deaths of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, with actress Carrie Fisher's actual passing spelling potential bad news for Leia as well.

Williams recently cancelled an Expo convention appearance due to "a film schedule conflict," which most assumed to mean he would be appearing in Episode IX. The hunches were correct, as he will appear for filming later this Summer.

Star Wars: Episode IX, with the official title to later be revealed, will conclude the trilogy and is set to hit theaters on December 20th, 2019.
