Ariana Grande and SNL's Pete Davidson getting engaged after just weeks of dating was pretty surprising, especially since it was immediately following respective break-ups with long-time significant others, but what may be more surprising is a particular someone who knew of the engagement before anyone else.

No stranger to fast-moving relationships, Entertainment Tonight reports Nicki Cannon was one of the first people Pete Davidson called before popping the big question.

“He called before he was going to do it, and I said, ‘Salud!’" Cannon stated. "He was really excited, so I was like, ‘I love it, man. Keep it going.’ Love is in the air!”

A former America's Got Talent host and star of Wild N' Out and Drumline, Nick Cannon married pop-singer Mariah Carey after only weeks of dating back in 2008, although the pair split six years after.

“To see them together — and I’ve been one of those dudes with one of those fantasy, fantastic relationships where you just go off and get married,” Cannon said, "so I was like 'do it."

"I think they’re outstanding. They’re young people in love and you can’t knock that. It’s like The Notebook," Cannon continued, as long as Pete Davidson doesn't have to go fight in World War II about half way through.

"I’m up for all weddings. I’ll officiate. I don’t know how long they’ll last if you let me do it, but I’m up for it,” Cannon offered. I don't know what the officiator has anything to do with how long the couple will last, but I also would never turn down the chance for Nick Cannon to officiate a wedding.

“I watched them grow up," Cannon explained, as Davidson often appeared on Wild N' Out and Ariana Grande got her start on NIckelodeon shows like Victorious just like Cannon. "A lot of people don’t know Pete Davidson is someone I introduced to entertainment," he explained.

“I’m a hopeless romantic, or as I say, a fearless romantic,” Cannon stated. “I just like to jump into it, and sometimes it can get you in trouble, but it makes for some great stories.” That is does, Nick. That it does.

Too fast or not, I wish the two of them the best of luck, and pray that Nick Cannon officiates the wedding with a full drumline.
