Kim Kardashian herself was "shocked" to learn she won the CFDA's first ever Influencer Award, but to be honest what I'm most surprised about is the extreme hate she's getting for just being honored.
On Tuesday (June 6) night, Kim attended the event in New York City, along with her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. The three looked gorgeous, and Kim's acceptance speech was quite humble and even humorous at times.
Many stars praised Kim on the award, but of course, there's always going to be those throwing shade and negativity at a celebratory moment. Top model Adwoa Aboah, who was named Model of the Year by British Vogue in 2017, might just be the biggest hater. Taking to Instagram, she absolutely tore Kim apart for not being deserving of the award, saying she is "no icon." Ouch!
When model Winnie Harlow posted an extremely heartfelt congratulations to Kim K, calling her "
“Is this a joke babe..In what world has she inspired women to be themselves? She is no icon nor an influencer and I find it completely crazy that anyone would think she was,” Adwoa wrote.
Winnie was quick to respond in Kim's defense, commenting, "
And now Adwoa Aboah says that Kim is “no icon nor an influencer” pic.twitter.com/jQFNCfrGXx— models daily (@supermodeldaiIy) June 5, 2018
“I’m still beat up for things and I understand how it feels. I do think she inspires others to be themselves.. Maybe I just want to see the best in people. There are negatives to everything but.. she’s a great human being," Winnie concluded.
Preach, Winnie! While maybe Kim wouldn't be everybody's first choice for this award, throwing negativity at a fellow women and bashing her fans for having their own personal opinions about her is really, really not helping Adwoa's case. How is she any better if she's so hateful!?
There’s actually no reason to HATE Kim Kardashian and Adwoa’s rant was too childish and uncalled for. Just sounding like one hater.— (@chloe_sih) June 5, 2018
And like it or not, Kim is pretty much the definition of an influencer. Her power in the media and the way she inspires women and men everywhere is exactly why she won the award. It's okay if you don't like her, but don't try to bring her down over it!
